Sophie H. Janicke

Sophie H. Janicke, Ph.D., is a positive media psychologist, now an assistant professor in media psychology at Chapman University, who investigates the role that new and traditional media play in promoting and affecting character development, self-transcendent emotions (such as elevation, gratitude, and awe), prosocial behavior, and happiness. Her research and teaching focus is on positive psychology, media and new communication technologies, and media and spirituality. Outside of academia, she writes a blog about the role technologies play in increasing our well-being, called link textRewire Happiness, and implements workshops on mindfulness and work-life balance at universities and corporations.
